Café Participants Access CalFresh

Meals on Wheels by ACC has teamed up with River City Foodbank’s CalFresh Outreach Assistant, Amy Dierlam, who has visited a number of Meals on Wheels by ACC’s All Season’s Café dining sites.

During each visit Amy gives a 10 to15 minute presentation about the CalFresh program, the benefits, and the eligibility guidelines to participants.  After the presentation, she provides one-on-one assistance to help answer questions and complete the application process with those who qualify for the program. CalFresh

What is CalFresh? The CalFresh Program assists seniors and families with limited resources meet their food needs each month.  Seniors on the program receive benefits electronically on a bank card with a specified amount deposited each month which allows them to buy staples such as bread, milk, cereal, fruits, vegetables, and other nutritious foods.  CalFresh cards are accepted at participating grocery and drug stores and some farmers markets.
