Social Services Manager, Lenise Curtis reports: Recently Meals on Wheels by ACC and the Telecommunications Education and Assistance in Multiple Languages Collaborative (TEAM) partnered to assist a participant receiving home delivered meals. During a quarterly reassessment, the older adult expressed concern about her high telephone bill and questioned particular charges. The Meals on Wheels Case Worker referred the participant to TEAM who reviewed her phone bill and advocated for a refund concerning long distance charges that were not made. Due to the collaboration of Meals on Wheels and TEAM, this participant received the assistance needed in order to save over one hundred dollars on her bill. The participant was so pleased that she has referred several of her friends to the TEAM program concerning their phone bill issues!
