New Volunteer Drivers Needed!

Deliver meals and a smile! A new home-delivered hot meal delivery route is being established to serve new frail, homebound seniors in South Sacramento and surrounding communities. Meals on Wheels currently operates four hot meal routes in South Sacramento and a fifth hot meal route is now needed. Hot meal delivery routes in South Sacramento cover the Florin, Freeport, Fruitridge, Broadway, and Pocket areas. In addition to South Sacramento, volunteer drivers are also needed in the communities of Galt, Rancho Cordova, and Citrus Heights. Volunteers normally help deliver meals one morning a week which takes two to three hours.

“We need 6-8 additional volunteer drivers to help visit seniors and make meal deliveries”, states Jennette Wells, Volunteer Services Coordinator for Meals on Wheels by ACC. “Volunteer drivers also check on the status of our seniors to insure they are well and safe during their brief but friendly visit,” states Wells.

New volunteer drivers start with our Volunteer Orientation that covers program information, essential training and volunteer requirements.  To register for a Volunteer Orientation or to learn more about volunteer opportunities, contact Jennette Wells (916) 444-9533 ext. 160 or email volunteer@mowsac.org.
