How does the Restaurant Program work?
The Restaurant Program by Meals on Wheels-Sacramento County, strives to provide a variety of meal options to suit the diverse individuals residing in the Sacramento area. We were established as an option for seniors to provide additional meal choices by partnering with local restaurants to bring fresh, nutritious food selections to their dining experience. The Restaurant Program works to create a welcoming environment that encourages social interaction, fostering meaningful connections, and addressing social isolation among our participants while providing a nutritious meal.
Eligible seniors in the program will receive meal credits that can be redeemed using our reloadable Meals on Wheels restaurant meal card, allowing them to enjoy a meal from our specialized Senior Meals on Wheels Menu at any of our participating restaurants. Each meal has been approved by our Registered Dietitian to provide at least 1/3 of the Dietary Reference Intakes for older adults. They can receive a meal during regular business hours (as presented on the restaurant pages) at any of our partnering locations. To stay active on the program, a minimum meal utilization of five (5) meals per month is required.
